1st time cruisers- great experience!

Sail Date: February 2014
Destination: Bahamas
Embarkation: Jacksonville
My husband and I took our first cruise on the Carnival Fascination this month. We felt like they really cared about everyone having a good time and we were really surprised how organized everything was with dinners and getting off the boat for excursions. I would recommend reading on the Carnival website on how to prepare for your cruise before you go even if you have cruised before. We learned a lot of info off that site. We chose not to do the "inclusive" drink package because it was $50 per person per day, it gave you 15 drinks per day and we didnt think we would drink even close to that, but after we got home we realized it was a way better deal to do the drink package than paying for drinks yourself. We would spend on average $18-20 (for the both of us) every time we went up to the bar. If we went to the bar more than twice a day we were already spending more than the all inclusive price and we would have gotten WAY more for our money. So I would say that is a must.

The More food was pretty good. Not 5 star quality but everything we tried we liked. The Mongolian Wok on the deck is the best lunch they have- its awesome! Also, we didnt know this till the second night, but you can order as much of anything as you want at dinner. If you want the steak, but also the fish looks good, order 2 entrees! A couple times my husband and I would order 2 desserts each and try a couple bites of what we both got. We got a couples massage- it was very relaxing, not as good as when we have gone to a spa in the past but nevertheless we didnt really want it to end when it did so it wasnt that bad. We had a great time by the pool (its a salt water pool they drain and get fresh water in everyday) The Serenity area which is the adults only section is great, but we preferred to go there to relax before dinner when the sun was setting. Its at the back of the boat so there was no wind! Also the hot tubs are much hotter in this area. We had a really great time and will definitely go on another Carnival cruise!!!!! Less

The room was way more spacious than we expected. The bathroom was accommodating, there were 2 closets with plenty of space! The window we had was huge, I expected a tiny round hole but this window was a 1/4 size of the wall! Beds were actually comfy and so were the pillows!

Port and Shore Excursions

This was our very favorite!!! The sand was as soft and fine as baby powder! And I;ve never seen water so clear before. It looked like a pool or bathtub! You can lay around on the beach all day or you can do an excursion. They had many options and all sounded so fun- we decided to do the stingray excursion and I would recommend it. It only lasted about 30-45 min and we still had the rest of the day to play in the ocean and soak up some sun. Also it was very reasonably priced. They bring over lunch for everyone which was very good. We loved this port!!!

It was a great excursion! Its expensive but definitely an experience to go to when you are there. We would go back! When they are ready to take you on the excursion you better be ready because my husband and I got left over a 3 min time frame and had to pay for a taxi over to Atlantis when we shouldnt have. Also, they give you two options- a half day or a full day at a higher price. We chose the full day but could have just chosen and payed for the half day excursion. There is no differintiation on your wrist band and you just take the bus back to your cruise ship whenever you want, it leaves and comes back every 30 min. Save your money and pay for the half day and stay however long you want. The serpent ride was SO fun. You go through a clear tube in the middle of the shark tank! Also, try Pices restaurant. They have the best fish and chips all fresh from the ocean catch! Its hard to find so you have to ask how to get there, its right off the ocean.
