Oasis of the Seas Cruise Review by mal9001
- Sail Date: January 2014
- Destination: Eastern Caribbean
People need to be careful of all the extra charges on the ship. The cupcake decorating class that charges $22 for adults and $15 for kids is a waste of money. It takes about 10 minutes and you get 1 cupcake. Don't waste the money. Also the 'Barbie Experience' at $200 is an even bigger waste of money. It amounts to 2 dolls, and a blanket and at the most 2 hours of activities. It was so disorganized they gave us the incorrect schedule and we missed one of the three activities.
We did one specialty restaurant, 'Chops' and it was very good. It was the kind of food that the regular dining room offered 15 years ago. All of the restaurants in Central Park are an additional charge for diner.
The Merry Go Round was included, as was the face painting and balloon animals. (The balloon twister has a jar to make sure you gave him a tip.)
The children's staff seem OK, but nothing special.
The gratuity is prepaid, but RCCL makes a point to put envelopes in you room and to advise that extra tips can be given.
We paid $165 per person for the shore excursion to the 'Atlantis Resort' in Nassau. It turns out they do not open the water park areas until 10am and we got there at 8:45am. We had a long wait to use the slides and we had to leave at 12:30pm to get back to the ship. Be very careful of the time you have on shore excursions, because the ship doesn't give you all the information.
I think this whole ship had too many extra charges, from the cupcakes, to the specialty restaurants.
