Celebrity did it again

Sail Date: January 2014
Destination: Panama Canal & Central America
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)
Well we had a great time as usual on a Celebrity ship

Embarkation was smooth - we arrived around 11:00 am and were walking on the ship by 11:15 greeted with a glass of champagne.

We walked around the ship and headed to the Oceanview for lunch - I must say the selection of items were varied and what we had was excellent

Upon changing we sat at the pool and enjoyed the warm weather - just a note that they must have cut back on the waiters at the pool - all week we usually had to go to the bar to get our drinks - oh well

About 1:00 pm our rooms were ready and as usual it was very clean and everything was neat - our room steward Manuel was very friendly and kept our room extremely neat and clean - the round shower is great and provides you plenty of room - we were in room 9139 which is on the same deck as the pool - you could hear very faintly carts rolling from time to time on the deck above us (The Oceanview) - it never kept us awake - only complaint More was the lack of hot water on numerous occasions when we were getting ready for our evening out

The food in the Main Dining Room was fair to good - the specialty Restaurants are amazing - Murano is the best one with Tuscon running a close second - Silk Harvest is ok - nothing special - the brunch on the last sea day was beautiful and the selection of food was extensive - I know they charge more for the specialty restaurants but the food and service is well worth it - we ate two nights up in Oceanview and had a wonderful meal

Each one of the ports are very different - Columbia is one port I have no interest in seeing again - the street vendors are relentless - Grand Cayman is very pretty and the Turtle Farm is very interesting - save yourself some money and walk past all the taxi's about 2 blocks up and catch the local buses - $2.50 per person each way to the Turtle Farm and $18.00 per person to get in - Panama was an education seeing as we took the Dome Train along the canal and Gatun Lake - the guide Mike was extremely informative and the scenery was beautiful - make sure you take the dome car if you take the train - Costa Rica was our adventure we went white water rafting - not many rapids but still an amazing way to see such a beautiful country - Belize is ok - we went snorkeling and were a little disappointed - the water was cloudy and the crew on the boat were about as interesting as a two toed sloth - Cozumel is your typical tourist trap but must say the shopping was the best of any port we visited

Entertainment was very good and if you could not find something you like then it is your fault

Service overall was excellent and all the staff are extremely friendly - it starts with the cruise director Paul who has been on other Celebrity Cruises we have done and he does a great job

Summary - Equinox is a beautiful well designed ship and the crew is fantastic - we had a wonderful vacation and look forward to our next Celebrity cruise

PS - be prepared for a long lines when you disembark thanks to the US Customs - also don't worry about tenderd ports it not that bad of a wait Less
