Sail Date: Jan 2014

We had already booked the Ruby Princess for a 7 day cruise Dec. 2014. When I saw this cruise with the 100% credit toward a 7 day or more 2014 cruise we had to jump on it.

I treated my Mom to this cruise as a surprise, especially since I told her only 4 days before we left. We live in Orlando, Fl. and drove down the evening before and arrived in Ft. Lauderdale about 9:15 pm. We stayed at the Rodeway Inn with their stay/park/cruise package. We settled in for the night.

Saturday, 1/9/2014 was embarkation day. I woke up at 6 am and we had breakfast at 7:30 am. I always have a ritual that if I am not in a hotel that has a view of the ship that I drive to it prior to boarding. Definitely gets my adrenaline going even after 75+ cruises. Mom wanted to go and so we did. Even though it was lightly raining the beautiful Ruby Princess was at Terminal 2 closest to the 17th Street bridge. I filled the car up with gas so it would be ready for when we returned home. Went back to the hotel and waited until the shuttle took us to the ship at 11 am.

Cabin Review

Actually it is called a B1 now. Standard outside cabin but with the large 9x9 balcony since it was on Caribe deck. It is half covered/uncovered. This was close to elevator which was great since I was pushing Mom in wheelchair part of the time. Even though the actual cabin is on the small side the "walk-in" closet was perfect for storing Mom's wheelchair. The balcony had two regular chairs and two chairs with the fold-down backs. Needless to say we used two off the chairs for ottomans. There was also a table. Balcony was nice to have a drink or breakfast on.
