Sail Date: Jan 2007

We traveled to Savona by car and decided to leave our car in the official parking. The price was not low  99 euros in cash for 10 days but at least it was guarded so we could relax on the cruise and not worry about the car. They took our luggage strait from the car and greeted us very nicely and it was a good start. But after this came the BIG problem called embarking. WE received an embarking number at the parking and it was 23. When we went into the already crowded building they were calling no. 9 ! It seemed it would go faster but after an hour it was no. 14!!! We then realized that the girls in the building were giving out numbers 21 at that moment and we had 23 from one hour back!!! We went crazy but it was too late. Although we came 4 hours before sailing we got eventually on the ship at 5 pm. ADVICE ..When you get at the port take the no. that you get and then check if any other hostess is giving out lower no. because as you see the organization is totally chaotic and very unorganized.

ROOM

After this rather nervewreking 3 hour wait we finally got on, had no mood for smiling for the obligatory boarding photo and went to find our room. At this point let me compare this start to our last year cruise with RCI. There it took only 30 min. to get aboard and the lady when registering told us all the main details about the boat, where our room is, where we can get a meal and any other info that you feel you need at this point. On Costa there is not anyone to greet you and tell you anything  you just have to follow the crowd!!! Upon boarding they just take your passport, so you have to try to find your room alone and then realize that the keys card is in the cabin! But this stress was quickly over when we say the beautiful room that was to be ours for the next 11 days. The room was almost double the one on Majesty of the seas!! We had a window room (cat 6) and before the trip I was thinking of an upgrade to a balcony room but to be honest we loved the lower floor rooms because they are closer to the see ( not too much as there are still 2 floors below) as the balcony rooms are the same size but they are too far up ( from the 6. floor ) so you have less of a boat feeling and more of being on a tall building. The balcony is much more useful in summer than on winter cruises. Our room apart from being surprisingly large had a huge window ( we could both fit in it) and was` really clean, modern, cozy and during the whole cruise we loved returning to it at any time.
