As Platinum members and as a teacher, this was not our first Christmas Cruise on Norwegian. However, this was our second in a row for the "Dawn." We found the ship cabins in need of some refurbishing, but they were very clean. The food is cruise food. We don't go cruising to eat. The shows were very good. WE LOVED the comedian!!!! We never laughed so much and I was even taken up on stage! The Russian acrobats and Second City were great too! As for the Shore excursions, we knew all the stops as we did this itinerary 5 times before on other NCL ships...we just did other excursions and went to a beach on our own. We found our bartender, Chips Ahoy, and he was outstanding!

I did have a long talk with Gen and Ana, the hostesses regarding the "reservations" in the main dining rooms and how that could cause problems. I told them that reservations should be only at specialty restaurants and the freestyle eating should be first come first served. I also told them to open earlier to accommodate earlier eating. Some parties of "9" were hogs--they changed their reservations to "2" and said 7 people cancelled; we found this unfair. Once they stopped taking the reservations, and opening earlier, by the second night their was no line and no wait. We ate immediately and if we did not like what they had, we ordered something else. All the fish we ordered we love blackened and ordered fries if we did not like the potato.

There is nothing wrong with complaining about a cruise, but if you don't speak up and address the fact that there is a problem, nothing will be fixed! Some of these employees were new to the ship and were just on it a few months. People should also realize that this is an international ship, not an American one...if you want an American ship, take the Pride of America, pay twice the amount, and get all the English you want.

Cabin Review

Balcony in need of upgrading. Carpeting was worn as was the bed ruffle. The cabin steward was outstanding!
