This cruise was good because the ports of call were wonderful. For most of them one day was good enough to see a lot of the city. It might add to the itinerary if Toulon was skipped and Rome was 2 days but that is just an opinion. The port for Rome is over an hour from the city so more than 2 hours of the day are wasted in travel from the port. The same happens in Livorno. Time is wasted travelling to the city you want to see, be it Pisa or Florence. If you chose to use public transport instead of NCL shore excursions it is not difficult but allow yourself plenty of time to get all the way back to the ship!

We arrived in Venice 2 days early and on the day the ship was to leave we were allowed to check in our luggage early and spend the day in Venice. It is an easy process and efficiently run. Arriving later we were checked in and onboard within 20 minutes.

Spirit is a nice ship. It is clean and staffed well. The crew is very friendly and knows your name after the first meeting. They keep things clean. It is however an older ship and things happen. We had to have a supervisor come to our room to fix a problem with noise from the connecting door to the next room. The only solution was bright red tape along all the seams. When they opened there door to the balcony there was a very load whistle through the door that adjoined the 2 rooms.. The tape worked but really looked ugly. Otherwise the room was small but very usable. Plenty of storage space and the bathroom is well thought out.

Nice room. Small but efficient and worked for all our needs. It is forward on the port side. It is right up over the jets used to dock the ship so there is a lot of noise when docking or pulling away from the dock. We had a serious noise problem with the adjoining room. If they had there balcony door open the door adjoining the two rooms made a very loud wind noise, like having the car window open on the highway. A supervisor came and the only solution was to tape the door seams with bright red tape. It looked crappy but it worked and we were able to sleep. The balcony is small but a good place to sit with a coffee and watch as the ship leaves the ports. Cabin steward was very good.
