We just came back in mid October from a fantastic Mediterranean cruise aboard the Celebrity Reflection. The ship was perfect, the itinerary was great, and the customer service was superb. When we contacted guest services because we heard a banging sound outside the balcony of our stateroom, the problem was investigated, determined that the sounds were coming from the kitchen of the restaurant below. THe noise immediately ceased, but we received letters of apology, wine and chocolate covered strawberries, and two sizable gift certificates to use for a future cruise. This was amazing customer service, and I bragged to everyone I could how fabulous and smart the Celebrity operation was. In planning a future cruise with celebrity to Israel and Egypt about the Celebrity Constellation, we decided to take a 5 day Caribbean cruise on the Constellation before committing to this longer Mediterranean cruise later in the year. I knew that Constellation had been recently updated, but would it really be as nice as the other solstice level ships. We were about to see.

Embarkation was easy and quick, arrival time beginning at 11:30, however we could not get into our rooms until 1:30. Everything about the ship was smaller than the Reflection because this ship was designed for 2000 rather than 3000 guests. The furnishings, carpets, art, were all in good taste and in good condition. The public areas of the ship were always clean and maintained well. The staff was pleasant but not nearly as friendly as those on the Reflection.

First problem was experienced as soon as we entered our stateroom. The bed-skirt around the bed was ripped and hanging off the bed frame with a big greasy spot on it. I called guest services and told them that I would like that fixed. Our stateroom attendant shortly after informed us that he had been advised of this. Later that night the bed skirt was shifted so that the entire front of the bed had extra length of bed skirt all in a pile on the floor with the bed frame exposed. This is how the bed skirt remained for the duration of our trip. Everyday it was an annoyance to us. In addition, the pillowed pole at the head of the bed was torn with a large safety pin holding it together. The rooms are a bit smaller but other than these annoyances that could be particular to just our stateroom, the room was very nice, with a couch, mirrored wall, flat screen tv, wonderful closet space, and a very nice bathroom. We had concierge serrvice and enjoyed the daily appetizers in late afternon and other ammenities.
