Sail Date: Dec 2013

We arrived at the port at noon and were on board by 12:20. Got our luggage shortly after getting in the cabin at 1:30. It was our 2nd cruise on the Silhouette so we knew our way around and the ship is as lovely as ever. We had any time dining and the food and service was wonderful - so many entrees to choose from and we thought the presentation and quality of the food both in the dining room and ocean view were wonderful. We had a balcony cabin which was always kept spotless by our steward. We had to skip the port of Livorno due to bad winds which gave us an extra sea day. Other than that, the weather for the entire sailing was beautiful - sunny, mild days and calm seas except for one day which was a little rocky. We had just been in Barcelona in June so we spent the day there walking the city and having lunch. In Toulon, we took a tour to the quaint little seaside village of Cassis which was nice with beautiful mountain scenery along the way. In Tenerife, we took a tour to Taganana which offered spectacular mountain scenery with a stop along the way at a restaurant for some complimentary wine, cheese and local bread which we enjoyed. We also stopped at a town called LaLaguna for some shopping which was nice. The captain is a real asset to the Silhouette - very visible and joining in many on board activities. He gave a kick boxing class by the pool one morning which was very entertaining and we always looked forward to his morning announcements which were very humorous. The new cruise director, Patti, is very energetic and also very talented. The only downside of the cruise was the entertainment. It was mediocre at best - the lounge entertainment was pretty awful. They did have a few comedians and one very talented singer one night. All in all it was a wonderful relaxing cruise and a great way to come across the pond.

Cabin Review

We had a balcony cabin on deck 7 mid ship which was very adequate. Bathroom was a good size with space for everything. Especially loved the cabinet with glass door.
