Sail Date: Nov 2013

Having sailed once before with RCCL 13 years ago from Vancouver - Hawaii, I was looking forward to the same 4 star food we had then. However, this cruise had run out of basics like ice tea, bananas, horseradish, chai tea. The overall food quality was barely 3 star and mostly 2 star (for complementary) food. The Windjammer buffet was better overall than the main dining room. Service was very good and cleanliness was up to par, but food was lacking. For instance, on formal night, the same menu was available as any other night. 13 years ago formal night meant filet or lobster. To be fair, the 3rd formal night lobster tail was available, but barely 3 stars. Soft drinks used to be complementary in the fine dining room, but no longer. We had the My Time dining schedule and were satisfied with available tables for 2 and service provided.

Invited entertainment was very good and company employee singers/dancers were very good too. The cruise director and his sidekick were what made the on board part of the trip the most fun. They were very professional and experienced.

Ports of call were best in Mexico. Could have done without Guatemala and instead would have loved Acapulco. Costa Rico could have been more exciting had we put up the $$$ for the rain forest excursion. Panama Canal was the real reason for the trip and it didn't disappoint. However, Port Colon was a waste of time. Cartagena was a very nice/clean city and enjoyed that stop. If we could have maybe stopped in Aruba that would have been the icing on the cake.

Cabin Review

Room was always kept clean and we tipped accordingly.
