On 12-24-06 my wife two sons and daughter-in-law set sail for our fist cruise upon the Norwegian Star for an eight day cruise to the Mexican Riviera. Since this was a Christmas present for my family I thought it would be cool to hire a limousine service to take us to San Pedro along with a follow vehicle (black Cadillac sedan to carry all of our luggage) very classy. Upon arrival to San Pedro being first timers we really had no idea where to go or what to do to board, come to find out the porters were on strike and really weren't a lot of help. We were among 1500 plus people that had no idea where to go how to board etc. After asking several people we figured out where to stand in line.

After a short wait we cleared through customs and before we new it we were in our stateroom. My wife and I were very impressed with our mini suite; upon arrival our travel agent had sent us a beautiful flower arrangement and chocolate covered strawberries, which was a great way to start off our eight-day vacation. After mixing up a couple of rum and cokes we settled in and shortly thereafter received our luggage. I reviewed the restaurant schedule and decided to make a couple of reservations for our family only to find that the first restaurant we called (teppanyaki bar) was already booked for the entire cruise. I went ahead and made reservations for Cagney's Steak house $20.00 per person fee. After meeting up with the rest of our party we had a few drinks in the Red Lion lounge, which was very nice. We went to the blue lagoon for a cheeseburger and fish and chips and were told a cheeseburger would take at least thirty minutes so instead of receiving our food at one time my wife and son received there fish and chips and I waited thirty minutes and finally received my burger. We turned in for the night around 11:00 pm and quickly figured out that we were below the TEEN ZONE not good, even though it closes at 10:00pm the teens would hang out and run up and down the stairs and gather around the elevators which just happens to be outside our doorway. After a couple of nights of no sleep I decided to call the reception desk to complain which I had to do every night on the cruise. One night at 12:00 AM I called the reception desk and they said they would take care of it. Forty-five minutes later they called our room to see if the noise had stopped (not good) I had finally fallen asleep. We did however receive a $ 100.00 dollar credit on our account for the trouble but to be honest the sleep would have been better.

We went to Cagney's Steakhouse for dinner, I ordered the filet and lobster my wife ordered the prime rib my one son ordered the tuna other son ordered the veal and our daughter-in-law ordered the lobster. My daughter-in-laws lobster was an additional $5.00?? And was terrible at best, my filet was good but the lobster was junk. My two sons enjoyed there meal but my wife's prime rib which she ordered an end cut looked like a two inch thick roast. The service at Cagney's was terrible and very slow. Keep in mind I paid for this cruise for my entire family and I was actually embarrassed.
