First Cruise on Princess as a test for Alaskan cruise 2014. Embarkation White bay Sydney which was so much better than our previous Sydney departure with Royal Caribbean which was from Cruise Terminal at Circular Key. Boarding much quicker and easier. The ship though older was in well maintained. balcony cabin was smaller than some other Cruise lines.

Used the main dining room on sea days as it was less congested and good service. The show on the main night at sea was good but the warm up show with the singers and dancers was pretty ordinary, the performers di not seam to have their heart in the show. Admittedly they were not supported by costuming or stage props of any significance. Pool side entertainment was very enjoyable and participative events like golf chipping contest a lot of fun. Cabin staff, in fact all staff were very good.

One disappointment particularly for the ladies was no formal night. We had enquired if there would be one and were told it was usual so had packed our clothes for a formal night. Princess brochure also says on a three or four night cruise you can expect one night. If you are a Capuccino drinker and are used to the many good coffee shops in our cities don't expect one the ship. Overall though except for getting off the dock in Melbourne a very enjoyable trip.

Cabin Review

Well maintained comfortable but a bit tight in both the cabin and on the balcony. Room attendant very good and friendly.
