Arrived at 12.45 to embark the Spirit in Barcelona. Would have liked to have arrived earlier but shuttle from hotel only ran once to the port that day. This caused us to be queuing at a busier time and it seemed to take for ever to get checked in (about 1 hour wait) Once checked in we headed past the wine shop, which we managed to buy a few bottles of wine to take on board with us. We were greeted at the ship's entrance by their wonderful staff and their enthusiasm lasted the whole cruise. Best staff we have ever had on a ship.

The ship was lovely and clean and the food in the Windows main dining room was outstanding. A very nice place to go for lunch also. A first for us as we normally just use the buffet during the day. Also liked the fact that there was never any problems in getting tables for two.

The choppy seas spoiled our cruise a little as husband and I felt rather queasy a lot of the time. We also could not dock in Lanzarote which seems to have happened quite a few times in the past, even though there were two cruise ships and a ferry in port. This made a Canary Island cruise a bit of a farce as we had Tenerife changed to Casablanca before we sailed, therefore we didn't visit any Canary Islands. We actually only had 2 ports visited during our 7 day cruise. Too many sea days, especially when choppy. Also on the way into Casablanca port we were hit by massive waves side on which made the ship list from side to side very badly for about 15 minutes. Lots of broken crockery in the buffet but the staff did a wonderful job in clearing it all up.

Cabin Review

9502 was the 2nd cabin from the front. Very quite area but because it was right at the front and we had very choppy seas there were lots of movements which made sleeping at night difficult. The cabin itself was very nice with a spacious bathroom and sofa bed. This is a connecting cabin and we could hear conversations next door and when they opened their balcony the wind whistled through the connecting door. Balcony was small and only managed to squeeze on 2 chairs and a small table but still pleasant to sit out in. The coffee for the coffee machine was terrible and hardly heated up at all. A waste of time. I probably wouldn't book this cabin again but only because of the severe movement we had.
