  3. Radiance of the Seas
We recently cruised aboard the Radiance of the Seas on December 17-23 2006 to the Western Caribbean. The Embarkation- We had an red eye flight from LAX. I will not do that again. Go a day before and stay the night so you are well rested. We took a taxi from FLL for about $15. We arrived pretty early and checked in around 11:30. Very easy process,no long lines and we were on the ship by 12:15. The Ship- The ship was absolutely beautiful. We had a Junior Suite which was the way to go. It was very spacious with plenty of closet space and drawers for clothes. We spent a lot of time at the spa. We bought a pass ($99.00 a couple) that allowed us to use the facilities for the week. We loved to go and lay in the heated mosaic thermal chairs and lookout at the beautiful clear water. My husband would go workout everyday and then head to the spa to use their dry and wet sauna, aromatherapy sauna, and tropical showers. We also had a couples Rasul treatment for $85 that was so romantic and fun. We also loved to spend time in the Solarium which is the Adult only pool area. It was very relaxing. The outside pool area was where the party happened. Music, drinks, and good fun every time we sailed away from a port. The inside of the ship was well taken care of and clean. We often went to the Centrum to take pictures and there was usually a musical act playing at night. The nightly entertainment in the Aurora Theatre was pretty good. The talent was definitely there, but the shows could of been better organized. The Food- The food on the ship was great. The dining room selection was good and portioned just right. The two specialty dining options Portofino's and Chops Grille were excellent. It was fine dining with excellent food and service. Every dish came out as a piece of art and cooked to perfection. We also used Room Service for some of the hard to get up mornings. Their breakfast was good and always brought on time. We did not eat a lot at the Windjammer b/c I am not much of a buffet person. But the food was average there and they had a good variety. The Ports- We liked that the ship was in a different port almost everyday. The first port was Key West which we did the Trolley Tour of the City. Not fun and not much to see.You literally just drive by. I would have much rather gone to see Ernest Hemingway's house and then gone to Duvall Street to hang out. Next stop Cozumel which we did an excursion to Playa Mia. It was $28 a person and well worth it. Open bar and beautiful beach with a water trampoline and ice berg to climb. Then to Grand Cayman. We went snorkeling with the Stingrays which is a must do. Not much to see in town. Just shops that sell jewelry and rum. Jamaica had the most beautiful scenery, but the people were rude. If you don't buy something they get mad. Take a taxi to Doctors Cove Beach for $4.00 and pay $5.00 for admission. The excursion from the ship cost us $42 a person to take us shopping for 30min and then take us to the Doctors Cove beach. Definitely not worth it. Overall- We had great time in Caribbean and we would do it all over again without hesitation. You went above and beyond our expectations.
