This was our first cruise the dw and I were on our 39th wedding anniversary.  We are late 50's no children on board. We flew direct from Detroit,mi to Miami 12/17 and took cab to port ($24.00) easy from airport 15 mins.

Embarkation: Arrived at port 11:25 A.M. threw terminal by 11:50 A.M. very efficient. However I ran into a problem I have COPD and didn't figure on two block long uphill climb to the sixth floor walk to board.I bring this up so others will know. A Miami port official saw me standing against rail not going up gangway asked if there was a problem.I told him I was trying to decide how I was going to get to the ship. He called into terminal and notified NCL rep of situation and within 6 or7 mins wheel chair and porter arrived took me direct to my room.A service that NCL was not required to supply.

The ship: The ship is outstanding well maintained on every level bright and cheerful decor makes you feel good to be there. The room: We had a mini suite full bath very roomy for two all the things as listed for the room were in order great balcony. The staff: At every level we found them to be very good no problems what so ever room service outstanding to within tree minutes daily. at all levels we saw smiling faces and crew more than willing to go the extra mile for you. The food: This is a tough subject I have eaten in three 5 star restaurants in the USA the food on board was close at least 4star in restaurants. We ate at Tzars,Le Bistro,Teppanyaki, and the Garden Cafe and the Topsider grill. Also the sail away BBQ all was very good. The two specialty restaurants were outstanding. We actually canceled Cagney's and Ma Ma's we couldn't face anymore four and five course meals. The Ports: San Juan we didn't get off the ship had heard it wasn't much other than shopping we spent the day at the pool and had it to ourselves. Antigua We did a private excursion with Creole Cruises and it was a wonderful well run day trip we did a 5 couple lobster lunch day on the beach worth every penny. A wonderful way to see this island without the crowds. St Thomas again we did a private day sail which was terrific but very close on time to return to ship be very careful with this excursion trip with 4:00 P.M. sailing. Great Stirrup Cay the wife did the parasailing oldest person to try and loved it nice island well laid out for activities and very nice beach. Entertainment: Let me say I am not a big live show person however I found the Jean Ryan co to be very good both shows kept me till the end we also did the crews show its was fun I even enjoyed there entertainment. They are all worth seeing.
