MSC Lirica - Central America/Panama Canal

Sail Date: November 2006
Destination: Panama Canal & Central America
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)
Food, buffet lunch poor. Limited selection. Meat tough. Same salad every day, limited selection. Three or four hot selections, uninteresting. One soup. Two desserts each day, poor quality. Two sugarless desserts and fruit. Beverages were iced tea, coffee or water, and milk. Pasta was good. Hamburgers awful. Pizza okay.

Lunch dining room selections very limited. Food was poor quality. Service was Ok sometimes and not so good other times. Desserts were better than on the buffet.

Dinner, Meat was very difficult to chew, too much sauce and gravy. Selections were very limited. One or two appetizers each day, one salad. Almost every dish ordered came with a boiled potato. Bread was good but we got the same roll every night. Fish was OK, mostly tasteless. Desserts were not good except for cheesecake on two nights, couldn't believe it came from the same bakery. must have been frozen.

Afternoon cookies on Deck 10 were tasteless.

Showers in rooms were the More smallest we ever saw in 20 years of cruising. Curtains stick to your body. They only give you shampoo, shower gel and very small bars of soap. No lotion, conditioner. Cabin service was not so good. Breakfast menu for room service is disgraceful. Very limited.

Waiters had to be repeatedly asked for more tea and water, and were insulted when they were asked for ice. Last day breakfast menu was changed. You could not get lox, cream cheese, bagels, french toast, pancakes, one hot cereal was offered. Eggs, toast, bacon & potatoes only.

Entertainment was fabulous. Singers were the best. Dancers were good also. There was a show every night. They also had variety entertainers that were on board for the whole cruise. The lounges were delightful, and the music although not in English was very good. "The Entertainers" were a group of zany, funny roving entertainers that were very funny.

THe ship is very clean. Personnel speak poor English. I don't think I will be back unless they improve on the quality of the food.
