BACKGROUND
We are a retired couple who, having experienced some medical problems and a bereavement or two lately, decided to take the plunge and take a cruise. After all, we're not going to live forever.
I have previously taken a long voyage from Britain to Australia and we have both been frequent users of the Sydney/Melbourne to Devonport shipping service so neither of us were exactly novices to ocean voyages.
