The ship was beautiful. My favorite place was the solarium and if I went around 9am I had the entire pool and jacuzzi to myself. The dining room was lovely and the service excellent. The food in the main dining room was very good but not as good as it sounded or looked. It just missed being great. The Windjammer cafe was convenient but it seemed they had the same food everyday and I suspect some of it was leftovers. The Waldorf Salad seemed to have mushy apples after a couple of days. The cabin was wonderful and spacious. Our Cabin Steward attended all our needs and was really friendly and helpful. We traveled with our single 31 year old son and had no problem sharing the room. There were heavy curtains between the queen bed and the bed that dropped out of the ceiling over the sofa. The bathroom was huge compared to older ships. We were surprised at how comfortable the mattress was.

I felt the evening entertainment could have been a lot better. The first production show had wonderful sets but after that I thought it all went downhill. I thought that most of the list of things to do on the ship were things that the cruiseline contributed nothing. Towel folding demonstrations etc. The winnings from bingo were paid for by those playing the bingo. And I found the choices boring.

Our only BAD experience was the Portofino restaurant. It costs an extra $20 per person and we chose it one night because someone on cruisecritic.com had recommended it. The decor in this restaurant is absolutely NOT any nicer than the dining room. And the waiter we had was the WORST waiter I have ever experienced in my life. He was absolutely spastic and I still get mad when I think of what we went through. This waiter had NO idea of how to wait a table. And when our head waiter in the main dining room heard about our experience, he put in a complaint for us. They offered us to come back and have a free coffee and dessert. This we could have anywhere on the ship, ha ha. And we paid $60 extra for this for the three of us which was not taken off our bill. Also no children under 13 were supposed to be in this restaurant but there were 4 there under about 8 years old. They were all dressed in ratty blue jeans.
