We needed to get out of town after a stressful couple of months and this cruise was cost effective (cheap) so off we went on out 30th cruise. Had we been first time cruisers naturally it would have been exciting and full of wonderment but we knew going in that the itinerary would be unimpressive and the Splendor is not a 4 star vessel. This was our 8th Carnival cruise and probably our last unless we can grab a cheap balcony again.

The Splendor was obviously built as a mass market people mover and lacked many ammenities found on other ships and cruiselines.

Food. Subjective as food may be the best grade I could give would be a C+. Carnival is great on presentation but was lacking in quality on this sailing. Many of us experienced cruisers agreed. We were dismayed at the limited choices in the buffets and the noninspirational main dining menu. There are no hot foods delivered to your cabin any more. The buffet lines are caotic and crowded. The only free flowing beverages are coffee, tea, lemonade and a brown liquid that is identified as ice tea. No juices:( On the plus side the omlette station produced a decent breakfast if you don't mind a 20 minute wait. The Pinnacle Steak House is nothing to rave about at $35 pp but an upgrade over the main dining room; not worth the price.

Cabin Review

Typical balcony cabin. Well placed on the ship near enough to elevators and stairs. Bathrooms come with hair wash/shower gel, adequate soap and promotional hair products.
