Since we returned from our cruise in early September I've been asked by many of my cruising friends if Sunshine was really so awful. Apparently "all of the bad reviews" are actually causing some people to change future vacation plans. I came here to write my reivew to hopefully offer some balance because as you may already know, sometimes it's just the unhappy people who take the time to review. Quick note about my travel experience: I have been on 10 cruises, 7 of them Carnival. I travel extensively outside of cruises, too, so I've seen good, bad, excellent, and horrid in the world of travel :-) I'd rate Sunshine "Very Good".
I noticed I am not the only person in the history of the world, though, that seemed to like Carnival Sunshine. I thought she had plenty of good reviews but still perhaps a larger than typical share of poor one. So here are my thoughts...
We arrived in Barcelona around 9AM the morning of the cruise. We booked a 4-hour "tour" of Barcelona that started at the airport and ended at the port with "Iberica Travel & Incoming Solutions". I would like to return to Barcelona to give it a little more attention but with the limited time that we had this turned out to be a perfect way to see the city some before heading to the cruise ship.
Cabin Review
Our cabin was adequate and what I've come to expect from Carnival. Plenty of storage, a comfortable enough bed, great linens, a bathroom that meets all of our needs, etc. I was surprised there was no mini-fridge and not even a "mini-bar" selection on our shelf as is sometimes the case when there is no fridge but we didn't miss it. We had pre-ordered some soft drinks and bottled water for our cabin and our steward brought us a beer bucket in addition to the standard ice bucket and kept both full. This gave us ice for our glasses and kept our drinks cool in the beer bucket as well.
