My husband and I decided to book another cruise with Royal Caribbean (our 3rd) and in reviewing the itineraries decided to book The Legend of the Seas for a 9 night cruise leaving from Venice, Italy and ending in Barcelona, Spain.

In booking the cruise and selecting our cabin, we made sure the person we worked with knew we wanted to be away from elevators and in the quietest place possible as we are light sleepers. We selected cabin 6500 as it was away from elevators, however, we were not informed that the room was next to the door leading from staff quarters and directly across from the room where art was stored for the art auctions. It was so nice (yes, I am being sarcastic) to be awakened at 4am on our 1 day at sea to the sound of staff talking as they were moving art from storage to the art auction area. Not to mention the staff door being shut loudly at all times of the day and night. As if that wasn't bad enough, we soon learned that this cabin was 1 level above the Anchors Aweigh auditorium and the performances each evening were at a volume level that we could not sleep. A request was made for the volume to be lowered in the auditorium, however, the request was not honored.

I can live on limited sleep if good food is available, but we found the Windjammer to be sadly lacking in this area. The food was boring and repetitive, reminding us of cafeteria lunches in grade school. The food in the dining room was much better, but we were only able to have one breakfast there due to early tour start times. Dinners in the dining room were very long, despite requests to get out early to attend shows.

Cabin Review

The cabin we selected was very small and we felt as if we were bumping into each other most of the time. This was the same cabin category that we had booked on Navigator of the Seas, yet on that cruise we felt comfortable in the cabin. If you are a deep sleeper this cabin would probably work, however, light sleepers would do better somewhere else as this cabin is directly across from the art storage room (they start setting up the art auction at 4am), and is very close to the door that takes staff to their cabins. It is also above one of the lounges where there is live entertainment nightly...........
