This was my first time cruising, and I also travelled with 4 other first-time cruisers (ages 22, 22, 19, 49 and 48). We flew to the Miami airport and opted for the Carnival shuttle for $15/person, which went smoothly. Since we came from the airport, we did not have to go through full check in at the port - we were able to skip some steps. Embarkation went smoothly and we were on the ship within minutes of arriving (we arrived around 1pm which gave us enough time to drop our bags off and get some burgers, which were amazing!) We stayed in balcony staterooms that gave us access to the spa suite (various steam rooms and thalassotherapy pool). We were on the 12th deck, and would definitely book this room again (12025 & 12027, with connecting balconies if you wish). We all loved the spa and went there almost every day.

We were on the August 17, 2013 sailing of the Breeze from Miami with stops in Grand Turk, Puerto Rico, Sint Maarten, and St. Thomas. I found reading these reviews extremely helpful in preparing for the cruise, but although many reviews stated that shopping was great in Sint Maarten & St. Thomas, we didn't find this to be the case (unless you are looking for expensive jewellery). Sint Maarten was my favourite port of call because of the amazing beach! We took a water taxi ($7/person for the full day) to Great Bay beach and rented loungers and umbrellas from Amanda's (total of $23 for 5 chairs and 2 umbrellas). In Puerto Rico, we visited the two forts on our own and made our way through the city by foot to get there. These were interesting to see and cost $5 for the two (or $3 for one). Grand Turk was another beach day for us and we also spent some time at Margaritaville.

The food was always amazing - we ate dinner in the MDR every night and never got tired of it. The service everywhere on the ship was great!
