The four of us flew the day before our October 18th departure from Sacramento to NYC. We all flew Frontier airlines and I have to say its a nice little airline if you ever get the chance. We stayed at a Holiday Inn the night before (not pre cruise arranged) on 57th street in NYC. The afternoon of embarkation we took a taxi to Pier 90 in Manhattan. Embarkation was a snap we were all checked in and in our rooms with 20 minutes. The ship was as we remembered six years ago on a cruise to Mexico. Very clean, sleek everything in place. Our cabin steward Ariel had just joined the cruise that day and throughout the cruise tended to us very well and was very attentive. Room service staff was equally attentive. This was our 10th cruise on Princess but the first cruise that we decided to leave the formal clothes at home. Figured we don't wear them during the year why wear them on vacation. I thought this would exclude us from the dining room on formal nights but our waiter said it was no problem. The food on the cruise was as always very good. Mostly dined in Horizon Court for breakfast and most dinners in the dining room. There was only one night that we decided against eating in the dining room due to the menu selections. Had dinner one night at Sterlings which was good but waited a very long time for dinner. Also ate a Pizza place a couple of times. Entertainment was good the magician was great! Generally went to casino every night and I will say the casino was very small considering the size of the ship. It appeared one half of casino was removed to make way for card table (bridge). Ports in the US were OK. Newport was OK, Boston we have been too many time and it was raining. Bar Harbor, Maine we had to abort due to very bad weather (heavy sea's and 55+ mile and hour winds). Would have been impossible in that weather to tender ashore. So the captain raced towards Saint Johns, New Brunswick. Loved all the Canadian ports including Halifax, Sydney, Port Sagueney, Quebec and Sain John. Especially like the fact that when the ship was departing in Saint John, Halifax and Sydney there was a musical sendoff. Nice touch! Bagpipers in Saint John and Halifax and small band in Sydney. Quebec was fantastic, so much history and places to see. South of Quebec City is St. Anne's church you need to see this place to believe it. All in all a great cruise, good ship lots of very friendly fellow passengers from East and West Coast and Great Britain. Not to mention a very friendly and personable crew.
