AHOY SHIPMATES, and possible future Shipmates.
Best place to start is a home and TRANSPORTATION to the ship. We only live 11.5 miles from the port but it's not so simple to get there economically. There is a transportation and PORT "MAFIA" in town. Taxi is $40. each way to ship. Drive my own car and it's $75. for 5 day cruise to park at port. Cheapest is to drive 25 mi. to Park-Easy fly at the Airport and pay $40.inc shuttle to n from ship if done on line. (not the fastest but good) . Only $30. if done in person. ????.
CHECK IN is busy but expedient and very friendly at 1130 , doesn't get real busy till about 1230. Security was efficient and very friendly. I tripped and fell(a real nose dive) and they were all great rushing to see if I was ok etc. I was.
We were in the center balcony cabin on the fantail of the ship. It was a standard OV cabin inside but had an 80 sq.ft. balcony with 3 chairs (2 reclining) and a table.Inside had a 3rd pull down bunk above the kingsize bed. It was not nice to bump head on that frame each time you laid down. Shower was large and water temp was easy to regulate. Sink could use bigger shelf for misc. tools. Upon entering rooms on first day there is No ice bucket. If you ask for ice you are told to call room service. It arrives quickly. It is a large plastic bucket the size of a large gallon ice cream container and then you are expected to tip for it. It makes you wonder if this is a trend. It isn't , but not a good way to start off. I expect the room to have the standard small bucket of ice ready when you arrive. Not a big thing ,but part of a review.
