Solo cruising last minute trip
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation was very smooth, and found myself on the lido deck within 30 minutes after dropping my bags in my much bigger than expected room. Found a place on the back of the ship to enjoy sail away. Why why why did they have the music painfully loud??? Signed up for three bottle wine deal which was pretty good, but just know that you can't get the wine except at dinner, so if you want a glass earlier, you are out of luck.
Took a nap in my very quiet room, then off to late dinner and meet some great folks at my table. Didn't feel awkward at all being solo. Went to adult comedy which was very funny the off to bed.
Sea day headed to the gym which had excellent new equipment. Wanted to swim, but the pools were More always overcrowded as they are very small. Lido pool was overrun with obnoxious drunks doing porn dancing, then fighting. That was probably my biggest issue with the cruise but there were only maybe 30-50 spring breakers that ruined it for the rest. Loved the movies under the stars
Food was pretty good. I avoided the buffet and ate in the dining room for brunches and dinners. Warm melting choc cake is excellent, with an espresso!
At progreso I just went to the beach and had a massage. In cozumel took a taxi to the money bar, snorkeled and had an outstanding beach massage, one of the best I've ever had! Then went into town and shopped a bit and had a couple margaritas. Just FYI, make sure you are drinking lots of water as the tequila is tough on an empty dehydrated brain!
Rest of the cruise was just fine, stay away from the 30 dollar bingo...I took my own luggage off ship, so that was super easy. All in all a good way to kill a week, but I gained 4 lbs. just FYI there is a deck I think level 3 that I didn't find until the last day. It's under the lifeboats, but quiet! Less
