Greek Isles Aboard the Splendour of the Seas
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
Ship is in good condition and has been updated in many areas including the new big screen over the pool area. Staff was very friendly. We have been on RC 12x and as Diamond cruises we generally have some good comparitives so I will focus on those.
Casino staff was the best we have seen - very friendly, very attentive and truly made our gaming time fun.
Viking Crown lounge turns in to a club everynight and lots of fun up there.
Food quality was very good. Also did the Chef's Table and it was exceptional. Very good food and wine pairings.
We were in room 8502 - very good repair and spacious. Room attendant was excellent and room was always promptly prepared and cleaned.
Ports are generally great stops (see More negative on Mykonos below).
Main pool bar can be difficult to get a drink without going to the bar - and sometimes that was a 30 minute wait. They need to staff with more than two bartenders at peak times. Also, pool waiters were hit and miss - a couple of really good ones (Robe and Ivan) and then some not so attentive ones.
Mykonos was a dissappointment. We waited over one hour to get a taxi - and never got one right off the docks at the taxi stand. there are only 33 taxis on the island so it just is not condusive to 2500 people visiting at once. Solve your transporation needs before you get there because you will miss the island otherwise - as we did. Gave up and got back on the ship.
All in all a good cruise and i would do this ship and itin again. Less
Port and Shore Excursions
Great site - allow 1 to 1.5 hours
Temple of Olympian Zeus
Highlight of the cruise. Athens is very interesting and historical sites are great to see. Use a guide to maximize time there.
Limited things to do. can probably get this one done in 4 hours or less.
