We had only once cruised before, a short venture on the QE2's second last voyage. We did not know what to expect on a "normal" cruise. We were most impressed. The service was among the best we have experienced anywhere. The crew were genuinely professional, very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent.

We much enjoyed the entertainment when we chose to participate. The cruise entertainment director, Mercedes, is outstandingly professional and good-humoured. The shows in the 42nd Street Theatre and the Centrum were first class. We found quiet spaces to read our books when we wanted to do so. Generally, nothing was too much trouble throughout the cruise.

Our excursions, self-navigated, were ideal. Dubrovnik, Corfu, Athens (great for one visit!), Mykonos and Kefalonia make for a diverse and fascinating itinerary. Even disembarking and returning was a pleasure as the crew bade us farewell each day and greeted us upon our return. The captain was a charming and engaging host when he took part in events.
