Looking for a bit of luxury we saw advertised Silverseas 6 star cruising, sadly it failed to deliver in many areas. We paid a 1000 a day inclusive looking for the bit extra and, like many other passengers, were extremly disappointed. Italian ship with multi cultural crew who had limited English language skills. Our cabin was a Veranda suite...quite small...outdated furniture, bathroom needed a make over....a good comfortable bed though. Food was very average, strangely no wine list at meal times...all a question of WHITE or RED sir and pot luck!
We were told by the Head wine waiter , in broken english, "that as we are changing our wines every 4 to 5 years we are not printing a list"!!!
Arrived on board at 5.00pm having been held up because the streets of London closed for a cycle event, having left home at 1.30pm.....tea finished at 5.00pm no room service ss crew were due to have safety drill....no bowl of fruit in the room ....butler said " It comes later" so nothing to eat until 7.00pm.Many other passengers like us.....we were not very happy!
Good location. Good balcony with unobstructive view. Very cramped with smalll bathroom which needed updating. Tiny light bulbs...difficult for reading. No drinks list in room (ask for what you want and we might have it)
