Did not disappoint!
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)
We stayed overnight the night before at Alhambra Beach Resort (great place, by the way), and arrived at 11 AM at Port Everglades on embarkation day. We were on board by noon. Luggage arrived around 4 PM. Ship was a few hours late leaving due to routine maintainence, but since it didn't affect the itinerary, we didn't care. Next time, though, we know to dress in our bathing suits on embarkation day :p
The ship was kept extremely clean. I know, because I get allergies and dust / mold / mildew makes it act up. I had no issues whatsoever with allergies this trip.
Our room steward was absolutely wonderful. He made sure we always had ice in the room. Whenever we needed something (ie corkscrew, scissors, etc), he would bring it over to our room in no more than 5 seconds. Put our More beds together without us having to ask. Great attitude, knew us by name on the first day...if we ever take the Freedom again, I hope we get the same steward =)
Our MDR waiters were great, as well. In fact, we asked for the same waiter on the last three days of our cruise, because he made our dining experience so enjoyable. Enjoyed dancing with the dining room staff, too!
Entertainment and food was about what you'd expect on a cruise line...with that said, they were both very good. We did miss one of the shows because we opted to go dancing instead. Also, loved the Latin band. My boyfriend is Hispanic so we did plenty of Latin dancing on the cruise...so much, that the Latin band would wave hello and come talk to us whenever they saw us there.
Ports of call were terrific, and we had perfect weather all week. Reviews of the ports to follow.
Writing this review makes me miss our cruise and the people on it...looking forward to booking our next one already, once I get enough vacation time saved up! Less

Very roomy, always kept extremely clean. No complaints whatsoever. Little less room when the beds were put together, but enough to move around in for two people.
Port and Shore Excursions
Gorgeous port of call, especially the beaches. Went to the turtle farm for this excursion. Got to hold the younger turtles...very cute, and you can soothe them by stroking them under their chin when they start flapping their flippers. They also let you swim with turtles and fish in this little lagoon, which was a nice experience...and across the bridge was the shark tank. There was also a freshwater pool, which was a refreshing break after all the saltwater we were used to swimming in.
From there, we went to Seven Mile Beach. Crystal clear, warm water, but it was extremely hot outside. Apply sunscreen VERY liberally while you're here. Spent about two hours at the beach before hopping back on a taxi to catch the last tender back to the cruise.
We didn't book any excursions this trip, so we just took the Conch trolley and got off at random stops to explore. I was on a mission: Find the best Key Lime Pie in Key West.
We first went to the Ernest Hemingway home, and though it was a little stuffy and very hot, it was enjoyable. From there, we went to the lighthouse, where we climbed to the top. You definitely get an amazing birds-eye view from Key West from up there!
Afterward, we hopped back on the trolley and hit up one of the beaches at Casa Marina. After taking Caribbean cruises, the beach wasn't really what we expected (water didn't seem particularly clean, lots of seaweed and algae floating around and made it awkward to swim / walk around in the water), so we left after about a half hour.
Lastly, we went to find our Key Lime pie. We went to the Key West Key Lime Pie Company and picked up two slices to bring back to the ship. Boy, did that make a good dessert in the next day or two!
Dunn's River Falls
We did the Dunn's River Falls and exclusive snorkeling excursion here. The snorkeling was a little cheesy...not what we expected. Don't think we'll be doing it again.
The Falls was most definitely a unique experience. Everyone in the tour group had to hold hands and make the trek up the falls. We got a workout from it and got some nice pictures. Overall, a very fun experience.
The only thing we were wary about were the locals. They can be a bit intimidating and pushy, but then again, that's how they make their money. We wanted to go River Tubing afterward, but since we didn't have any cash on us, we couldn't do a whole lot else. Ended up going back to the cruise ship an hour early.
Freedom still a Favorite
