Overall enjoyable

Sail Date: July 2013
Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean
Embarkation: Southampton
As first-time cruisers we had little knowledge on the Oceana. Overall we enjoyed the holiday but would probably not repeat. I think we are too independently minded and the proximity to so many other holiday makers was not what we would normally choose.

We do wish we had opted for an adult only cruise. Parents do not always respect other people's space, and on occasion we had teenagers charging around in groups and very young children spoiling evening events.

The standard of food was high. We particularly enjoyed a meal at the Horizon grill (additional charge but worth it) The 'black tie' evenings need to be done away with - they are pointless and do not really match with the overall standard of these sort of cruises, ie with bingo and Mr and Mrs quizzes

Our cabin was very clean but needed updating - new carpet, touch of paint etc. Level of housekeeping very good but could only rate entertainment as OK

There was a problem with the 'card' door keys More and one of ours did not work after the first two days despite being replaced.

There is an automatic 'tip' charge of 3.50 per day per adult which seems steep unless you are a demanding passenger, particularly if you tend to use the help-yourself option at The Plaza restaurant

Disappointed that we did not receive a customer satisfaction survey to complete. Perhaps they only give them out selectively?? It would have been nice to have commented on the holiday....one reason why we are writing this review Less
