Sail Date: May 2013

This was to be a luxurious celebration, 14 days and nights cruising the Rhine, Main and Danube Rivers with excellent facilities, food and service, a tour planned over a year and anticipated fondly.

That is not what happened. Heavy winter snow melted late and heavy spring rains fell. The rivers rose, flooded and then were closed to boat traffic. However, with knowledge of the flooding and the possibility of impassable rivers, Scenic Tours embarked our cruise. We were not offered a cancellation.

We cruised for 2.5 days. After that we were moored in Mains for 5 days, then transferred by bus in an appalling comedy of errors lasting near 18 hours to Vienna and the Scenic Pearl. We swapped ships and were moored there for another 5 days. The last transfer was a long bus day to Budapest and a hotel.

Cabin Review

Cabin on top level with private outdoor deck. Attractive and sufficient but cramped. Robe storage is awkward when twin sharing, as opposed to couples, sharing. Bathroom on the Scenic Pearl better design than the Diamond. The in room loudspeaker is supposed to be volume controlled in room but it is not, this is really annoying, loud and intrusive.
