Good points, great itinerary, fantastic staff, good entertainment and lectures, good storage space in cabin.
Bad points, definitely only a 2 * ship, nowhere near “Hotel Inspector” standards:
Towels were badly frayed - this happened twice
Bathroom was very smelly when we arrived, was fixed promptly
Sink plug jammed, again was fixed quickly
Food – only acceptable and several occasions at dinner was well below standard 1) overcooked and tough chicken b) overcooked and dry fish on fisherman’s skewers c ) stuffed calamari tasted so awful could not eat it d) pork in pork stew covered in fat e) tinned peaches one morning were a bit “fizzy” so probably off
Dining – see food above plus: No spoons in restaurant, Not enough tea cups at breakfast, chipped cups, wrong size knife and fork given for main course. No finger bowls provided with prawn meal
No tokens for washing machines had to wait four hours until coin slots were emptied even though the machines were not being used.
Some drainpipes leading to scuppers were broken and had been “repaired” with plastic drinks bottles. One of them had even been painted white, so repair was not temporary
Worn stair carpets in several places
Shower curtain too short. Even with care, this meant that the showroom floor often got flooded
Sink chipped in 3 places
Mouldy grout in bathroom
Missing knob decoration on bathroom cabinet
Labels only provided for one case each on arrival. More were provided on request.
Had to carry own luggage from shed to coach when got back to Newcastle
