This was our first cruise since 1991 (Royal Princess-Caribbean). In 15 years there have been many amenities added, all welcomed. After reflecting for four weeks after disembarking in Los Angeles, I must say that this cruise was equal in satisfaction, but not that much better. Memories fade in that time but the new features were somewhat offset by some drawbacks this cruise. This was a repositioning cruise from Vancouver to Los Angeles. I got the impression that perhaps they use these repositionings to "fix" some issues on board. I realize that they don't have downtime to do these things: 1. A couple of the pools & hot tubs were down for repair the first half of the cruise. 2. The hot tubs in the Lotus Spa pool area were not hot enough and the jet did not function properly. 3. Lotus spa extra charge package had steam rooms not working sometimes and the aroma steam rooms didn't have aroma.

We flew in to Vancouver the day of embarkation. We chose the Princess transfer service from the airport. After a delay in getting luggage from flight, there was a wait for the bus. When bus arrived, that's when the good stuff started. The bus driver was an excellent tour guide on the 45 minute trip from airport to the port. He was very informative and while we weren't able to spend time in Vancouver, he made us feel that we had.

Check-in was a breeze-no delay. Upon boarding, which was about 4:00, we had just reached our cabin when we immediately had to muster. While it is required, the timing was poor for us-very hectic way to start onboard experience. After muster, we had a few minutes to get used to our cabin with balcony on Aloha level. Then it was time for the sailing. Weather was beautiful and the on deck view out of Vancouver harbor was spectacular.
