Island Escape Cruise Review by jillybabes111
- Sail Date: June 2013
- Destination: Western Mediterranean
The main complaints were: The food was of a very poor quality, apparantly it was better before the whole ship went all inclusive..so what does that tell you? The food was bland, lukewarm, stodgy and full of bones!! There is no waiter service at all. So in the evening everyone are milling about with plates of food, some people are dressed up, some are in shorts!! Its like a canteen or school dinners.
There is no promemade deck as such, only a small piece of deck. This is the only piece of deck that we could sit in the shade. But there are no sunbeds on there, so unless you like sitting in the full sun, on top of the boat, there is no shade. Also smoking is allowed anywhere on the open deck, so the whole of outside smells of smoke.
Service on the boat was good, aand the entertainment was also good. But only 350 seats in the theatre, twice a night is 700 seats, and theres 1400 people on board. So we only saw 2 shows as we couldn't find a seat. We learnt you have to queue 3/4 hr before the show begins to get a seat.
The atmosphere on ship was friendly, but there were large parties of people drinking as its was all inclusive. There was a reasonable selection of drinks on the package.
Summing up. A friendly boat, very clean but terrible food and spoilt by allowing smoking everywhere on the outside deck (loads of people with hacking coughs!!). Its the cruise for you if you want to eat in a canteen, drink and smoke as much as you want and enjoy a social club atmosphere. We will not be returning.
