Having been on the Ooosterdam a few days prior we found this ship a lot different much smaller obviously allowing it to get up the inside passage. The stateroom was bigger than the previous ship but showing signs of wear and in need of maintenance we had a "hump" in the floor which made a loud noise if stood on and the wardrobe doors didn't close. We ate only in the Lido restaurant in retrospect that may have been a mistake, as the food was bland and often had to ask for a little more on our plate it was as if the food was rationed, the dining room closed quite early with no late night self services supper snacks, having said that we didn't starve. The staff were no friendly and seldom smiled or spoke. The HAL on shore excursions were expensive certainly not value for money, better options with on shore independent operators, but if booking with them make sure they get you back to the ship on time otherwise the ship may sail without you!Regardless of the shortcomings of the ship itself the scenery in Alaska was breathtakingly beautiful and worth every cent a once in a lifetime experience.
