MSC Preziosa Cruise Review by Mjmiles
- Sail Date: March 2013
- Destination: Western Mediterranean
We were disappointed that water wasn't complimentary at dinner. Neither was coffee or tea. You could go to the buffet to get your own coffee but it was horrible! We kept hoping it would improve, but it was just awful coffee.
Our cabin was under the pool and water started dripping through the light fixtures on our ceiling into the room. The staff were able to move us to a different cabin, so it was mainly just an inconvenience.
We felt like the ship should have offered a complimentary shuttle into Marseilles because it was quite a long walk to a place where you could catch a public bus. On the Armonia, the shuttles were complimentary, but it cost 15 Euros pp to ride into town here. In Genoa, we caught a train to Santa Margherita and then a water taxi to Portofino, which was wonderful. The shore excursion in Tunis was a bit of a let down as our guide led us into places where wares were pushed on us mightily! It was very uncomfortable for everyone on our bus, as most Americans and Western Europeans were not used to such hard sell tactics. It was overwhelming to have people putting scarves around your neck and hats on your head, spraying perfume on you and such.
The shows were pretty entertaining, but kind of random. I wasn't sure how they were intended to go together with the titles of the shows. Our last night in the dining room, our waiter told us what to put on our review forms. Also tips are added automatically where you received good service or not. Overall we did get good wait staff and we had a good cabin steward, but I would prefer to leave my own tips as I see fit, not a "one size fits all" tip added. We were trying to stick to a budget and our overall impression was that we were nickeled and dimed to death on this cruise where basically everything was an extra fee. More so than on our previous cruises.

MarseilleWe were a long way from town and MSC felt the need to charge 15 euros to get into town, which is ridiculous when the ship is so far out. Once we got into the town it was beautiful. The church of Notre dam is gorgeous and the views are breathtaking. The area by the water was fun and there was plenty to see, lots of shops and restaurants with free wifi and great coffee!View All 649 Marseille Cruise Port Reviews
