Celebrity Equinox Cruise Review by Rutheth
- Sail Date: March 2013
- Destination: Southern Caribbean
- Cabin Type: Deluxe Veranda
We have always previously booked an inside cabin for value for money but we decided to book a balcony for this longer cruise. We both enjoyed the convenience of the balcony and enjoyed the time on there as we left port and for the occasional glass of wine before dinner. We also enjoyed sitting out there during the day. If the price was suitable we would definitely book again.
We stayed at the Bahia Mar for 2 nights before the cruise (where we have stayed previously) and would stay there again for convenience to the beach and the port.
The cabin stewards were friendly and efficient and we had no complaints at all. The cabin was kept clean and we enjoyed the design compared to the Summit, especially the bathroom. The nightlight in the bathroom was a major improvement. We also enjoyed the lack of shower curtain!
Our cabin was on deck 7 towards the aft. We thought this was a good location. It was a quiet cabin.
We were on select dining and we often went to dinner between 6:30 and 7pm. We usually had no problem getting a table for 2 with little or no wait. We sat in different places each night and we found the service was good in all locations. The only improvement I would have liked would have been the sommelier. We often had to wait for the wine menu, with wine not being delivered until the main course and then later a further wait for the card to be collected to pay.
We found the food in the MDR to be ok. The food itself was fine and I had no complaints except I thought the menu choices were not as good as they were 2 years previous. As usual I enjoyed the breakfast choices and lunch was ok in the buffet though very busy. Burgers were lovely as usual. I think they need to improve the choices in the evening in the buffet. On HAL they had a better variety as they also included some of the choices from the MDR. The Brunch towards the end of the cruise was very enjoyable and I would definitely recommend attending, especially with your camera.
Room service was good and quite prompt. Food was of adequate temperature. We liked the way it could be ordered via the interactive tv.
We enjoyed the variety of ports: Cozumel, Costa Maya, Costa Rica, Panama, Columbia, Grand Cayman.
Embarkation was well organised and reasonably quick and pain free. We chose to go on an excursion when disembarking but there seemed to be the usual lines to disembark. This process was much better on HAL last year.
Overall I would definitely choose to sail Celebrity again. We enjoyed the Equinox and would definitely sail again on the newer ships.
