Fantastic family holiday.

Sail Date: April 2013
Destination: South Pacific
Embarkation: Sydney (Australia)
As a family with a young child we were looking for a fun family orientated cruise, with the recommendation given to us that the Carnival Spirit would meet our wishes we were very happy with our holiday.

Here are our thoughts & opinions of what we experienced:

Very well organised, quick & easy. Our boarding time was for 12:30pm and we were sitting down having lunch with a cocktail by 1:00pm.
After lunch we had a look around the ship & made our way to our cabin around 2:30pm where our luggage was there waiting.

We were on deck 8 with a balcony room. The cabin was clean & tidy, with plenty of storage space. The bathroom was also spotlessly clean & of a decent size. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the sofa bed was already made up for our daughter, I anticipated that this was something that wasn't going to be done until that evenings turn down service.
There was a mini bar but it was locked, we didn't bother having it More unlocked so no issue there.
We had a small issue with the TV remote not working & called guest services, it was attended to & a new remote was in our room quickly.

Our room steward was very efficient & our cabin was cleaned daily to a high standard. I loved the nightly turn down service & thought the towel animal surprises were great fun.

Service was impeccable & could not be faulted in my opinion. Every service attended we encountered smiled & greeted us by name when possible.
In the buffet I felt the service attendants where amazing, tables were cleared and cleaned so quickly.
All staff were so friendly & happy, they genuinely appeared to enjoy themselves & their jobs aiding in the fantastic atmosphere of the ship.

The food was of excellent quality & there was a huge variety offered in all areas.
We dined in the MDR a couple of times & thoroughly enjoyed it but actually preferred the buffet setting.
The Nouvea Steakhouse was absolutely superb, we had no trouble booking a table on short notice and believe that it is well worth the cover charge.
Fat Jimmy's BBQ was delicious & we also loved the grill on the lido deck serving really yummy hamburgers.
The 24 hour self serve ice cream was a huge hit.
The 24 hour pizza was really nice but unfortunately during peak meal times there was quite a wait due to the pizzas being made fresh to order.

Drinks were of reasonable prices & they definitely were not stingy with the alcohol (drinks were made strong).
I personally thought the coffee was too strong for my liking but it was nice when watered down a bit.

We didn't go to any shows so can not comment but we did go a comedy show which was very good. There was some really good live music around the bars & we loved to hang out in the karaoke bar which was fun. The day time lido deck games weren't our thing but those participating looked to be having a lot of fun.
The waterslides & splash zone were great fun but unfortunately due to the winds we experienced were really too cold to spend a long time in.
The pools were good but also on the cold side but the whirlpools were a huge hit especially with the kids.
The mini golf course was fun & a popular activity.

Our 5 year old loved the kids club so much that we hardly saw her. She always seemed to have enjoyed herself & asked constantly to be there for the night owls. The supervisors all seemed very nice and appeared to be managing things smoothly.

Overall we loved the cruise entirely and wouldn't hesitate recommending it or rebooking again. Less
