A nice Valor cruise

Sail Date: April 2013
Destination: Southern Caribbean
Embarkation: San Juan
We all arrived on Friday April 12th in San Juan. It was great to start our vacation enjoying old San Juan first. Sheraton Old San Juan was great and close to port. Enjoy the free white open air shuttle around town.

Arriving on our ship Sunday afternoon we found our stateroom clean as always and always love a balcony room. This is where we had our first blip though, our cabin steward , John ,on the eighth deck never introduced himself to us as we had been accustomed to on past cruises.he acted put out and some what sullen for the week. We really enjoy meeting ship staff, this was a disappointment. Wondering if perhaps the poor guy had a personal issue.

We attended the main shows in Ivanhoe theater. Saw same shows two years ago,but the singers and dancers do a wonderful job. Very enjoyable. My mother in law loves the bingo. We joined her to make it really fun for her. Best mother in law ever. Seems there is less bingo available this cruise for her to enjoy.
The More ship looked great, clean and well maintained. Over all ,the crew through out ship were very had working and treated us very special. Especially our head dinner waiter n Washington , P K. What a sweet person! He left the same day as us to join the Sunshine in Europe. We wish him a wonderful life.

The food...hmmm. Always enjoyed Carnivals food in past. Still give a general thumbs up, however , some deserts have changed for the worst this trip. Dining rom side dish of ice cream is now icy and bland. Some menu deserts now changed to gelatin added not recipe .ex. Cheese cake. Powered scrambled eggs now in lido..awful. Lido buffet just o.k. On up side ,dinner menu entres and appetizers still amazing as ever. Big thumbs up for the Pizza kiosk. Soft serve ice cream machine still great. Wish they used that as a side at dinner with cake.

Chair hogs still persist, as on all cruises. Noticed that when I saw a person make staff aware of chairs in desired areas towel saved, but people absent,, it was mostly ignored.

Room air conditioning for decks 6,7,8 was not always working well. Stuffy room at night. Got three different answers as to what the issue was. Another first for us.

We love the itinerary. The Southern Caribbean is lovely.! Weather was great mostly too. We did two excursions , not Carnival . On St. Lucia we for a second time did the all day Cosol tour. We recommend Cosol highly.
On Barbados we did a turtle , reef, catamaran lunch cruise. Calabaza ( spelling?) tours.Great too!
The other three islands we took a taxi to a lovely beach.

We met a lot of very nice guests while on elevators, etc. I enjoy seeing people having a fun time.

Disembarking was a little long this trip. OK. , a few blips this cruise, but don't worry those reading this report..you will have a wonderful cruise! The Valor is a very nice ship . The price with Carnival is big reason for us to use tho line as it makes it possible to have family members join us.fingers crossed they get their main thence issues as seen in news all ironed out. We basically are Carnival fans. Less
