Sail Date: Mar 2013
Cabin: Royal Family Suite

We sailed out of Santos (2 hr drive from Sao Paolo) to 2 ports in Uruguay that were really fun. We went on to Buenos Aires where the ship overnighted enabling us to go out to a tango show and came back to Sao Paolo. The drive from and to the ship/airport is a comfortable 2 hr drive . However, all it takes is a little fog or an accident and the drive can be 4 to 6 hrs. Frequently passengers who arrange their own transportation miss the ship. Therefore, the ship transfers($25 each way) are the way to go. The ship was renovated this past year and is in excellent shape. Everything is new including cabins, restaurants, public spaces and even the theatre. So don't be scared by the year it was built.

The Royal Family suite is really an amazing cabin. The LR has a full size couch (Q size bed) and seating for 7 adults. The MB faces the LR with sliding privacy glass doors for privacy. Its the size of almost 2 cabins with private bath with tub. The MB and LR both have sliding glass doors to access a large balcony. The second BD is a standard inside cabin with 2 beds that can be combined and one bunk bed. It also has a small private entry way and a full bathroom for BR#2 and LR guest. It can accommodate 7 but 5 is the way to go. 5 is also the minimum to book this cabin. Its location is mid ship and ideal. The RF Suite also gives you access to the concierge lounge with perks like reserved seating at shows, early disembark at ports regardless on your tour times, special behind the scene tours of the theatre, kitchens, bridge and more. The best is everyday between 6:30 and 10 you can have free cocktails (top brands included) and appetizers in the concierge lounge. So a couple of before dinner drinks at 6:60 and a couple after dinner drinks at 10 make it very enjoyable. They are very particular about bringing in guests that are not in your suite. The concierge who sits in the entrance of lounge knows all his suite passengers and will escort any visitors out of the lounge.

My sister stayed in a standard balcony cabin below us and their cabin was well appointed too and rather spacious with lots of closet space. Being a seasoned traveller, the cabins on this ship are larger.
