OVERVIEW -- 1. We are two fairly experienced 50-something travelers. We are very laid back travelers and never sweat the small stuff. This is our 4th cruise. We picked this date because of Husbands work schedule and this cruise because of the possibility of Husbands father and other family joining us. Ended up with 7 travelers, Father-in-law, Sister-in-law/spouse, Niece/spouse.

EMBARKATION -- After some anxious moments at the Memphis airport (computers down) and DFW (stormy weather), we arrived basically on time in Seattle around noon for 4:00 PM departure. Cab from Sea-Tac to ship about 25 minutes and $32. Met family and, after waiting for Sister-in-law and Niece to arrive after parking cars at other nieces house, boarded with no real problems about 2:30. The Port Authority lady checking tickets and birth certificates (only time we showed them entire trip) was a little rude, but we were close to the last group of boarders and the day may have just been catching up to her a little.

CABINS -- First time we have ever popped for upgraded accommodations on any cruise. We have always taken cheapest available space since we spend very little time in our cabin. However, going to Alaska, we wanted a balcony for whale watching, sightseeing, etc. It was worth every penny. Every time we walked into our cabin while underway, we were greeted with breathtaking scenery. Husband spent several hours reading on the balcony, only occasionally chased indoors by a little too chilly weather. Father was also able to spend time with us on the balcony. Father & Sister had inside rooms on same deck, Father directly across hall. Sister same deck, starboard side. Typical inside cabins, adequate, but fairly limited for space and storage. Our room was very nice. Queen bed, vanity, desk/chair, closet, drawers and smallish bathroom. And, of course, that balcony! One outlet only, so power strip a necessity for camera chargers, phone chargers, etc. Maribel kept room clean and surprised us with towel animals 4 times. Room always turned down by 7 or 8 each evening. Nieces room was on Deck 8, a large ocean-view handicap room on the end by the crews elevators. They loved their room until the last night, when the crew were off-loading all the luggage.
