We thought the price, including flight to Barbados too good to miss and booked, "on a whim."
We were not to be disappointed as our travel arrangements(even allowing for the fact that we had to start from Toulouse)were completely hassle-free. The Thomson Charter Flight was far better than expected as the highly professional cabin staff looked after our comfort very well.
What a treat it was to be met at the aircraft steps and be driven directly to the Cruise Terminal and our luggage being delivered to our cabin.
On deck 11, mid-ships,convenient for lifts and stairs but very quiet.
On starboard side so balcony caught the sun most days. Balcony not overlooked.
We found the taxis very reasonable and the drivers proud of their island and willing to help.
If you are prepared to run the gauntlet of taxi/tour operators at the port entrance you can find taxi drivers willing to take you anywhere, but do haggle and fix a price before you leave.
There are many lovely beaches and you get the feel of the island driving around.
We did our only PO Excursion here, Kayaking and Snorkelling which we found to be excellent value. The young local man in charge was confident, efficient and made sure all participants enjoyed themselves.
We were taken to Le Reduit beach which is recommended by PO but found it to be incredibly crowded, sunbeds crammed together, in poor condition and extremely sloping with a strong under-tow. It wasn't a pleasant swimming experience.
This was our favourite. We took a water taxi for a reasonable fee to a beautiful beach.
The people we met seemed the friendliest also.
We just walked around to get an impression of the island.
Interesting fish market.
I believe many people pay a taxi driver to take them to (maybe)see a plane land or take off at the unbelievable little airport and maybe be blown off their feet or be sand-blasted! A very inventive friend wore his mask and snorkel for this experience!
We'd been to the US Virgin Isles last year and found this to be similar.
Plenty of taxis/tours to choose from.
