Norwegian Jewel Cruise Review by Elliegal
- Sail Date: March 2013
- Destination: Bahamas
- Cabin Type: Obstructed Oceanview
There were many spring breakers and families with children on the Jewel during our March 17 trip, but everyone was well behaved and having a good time. The spring breakers did tend to take over 2 of the hot tubs, but no one really seemed to mind. I don't think anyone else was dying to get in them since 10-15 kids were in each one for most of the day, drinking non-stop for hours...and never once getting out to go to the bathroom. Hmmm.
The shows were all good, the comedian was very funny! We also watched a couple of games that were very entertaining - Battle of the Sexes trivia (hilarious!)and Quest(insane!!! Don't miss this one!!)
We liked the food better on the Jewel, too. The Garden Cafe is set up much better than the Dawn. It has the circular stations that are more like the Windjammer on RCCL. There is also a great outdoor dining area right off the Garden Cafe, so enjoyable to sit out there and watch the ocean! We ate in both of the dining rooms once, but didn't bother on the other nights. The food was slow to arrive and was just ok, we felt. The selection in the Garden Cafe was much bigger. One area that NCL excels in is desserts. YUM! The chocolate buffet was especially gorgeous and delicious!
Our cabin was located in a great spot - directly next to the Atrium and very easy to find. It was a little noisy at night but nothing too bad. Our stateroom attendant didn't introduce herself for the first 4 days but she did an excellent job with our room. We had an obstructed ocean view that gave us a good view of the water. The room was good size with comfy beds. No complaints.
I don't know whether we were just lucky or whether the captain is just a great navigator but we felt virtually NO boat motion the entire week. Amazing! It was the smoothest cruise I've ever been on, and we were expecting just the opposite, figuring NYC-Bahamas in March would be a rough ride!
All in all, a wonderful experience on the Jewel. If anyone has specific questions, feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org
