Norwegian Gem Cruise Review by mommom1
- Sail Date: March 2013
- Destination: Eastern Caribbean
- Cabin Type: Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony
Our room was a mini suite on deck 11 forward under spa, so it was very quiet. It had plenty of room for the 2 of us and was always clean and neat. Our room steward Philip Allen was the best always around with a smile and nice words.
We like to go to the casino at night and they had plenty to do it was very nice and casino staff were very friendly the one server Jeffery was very good we never had to worry about getting a drink like we do in A.C.
The entertainment staff were great, we were always laughing and having a good time. Sinan was a good cruise director and his assistant can not remember her name was good also. The shows were good that we went to mostly in the Spinnaker Lounge. Mostly dance and game shows, so much fun. Selsa Augustin Nestor was our server most of the time there and she was really good and fun also.
Food....MDR's were very good, had breakfasts and dinners there. Also went to Blue Lagoon late night, tomato soup is really good. DH liked the wings. We went to Cagney's, La Cucina, and Le Bistro. They have a charge but it is worth the money all were really good and fine dinning. Garden Cafe Buffet was ok but the lay out could be better and the food was always the same.
The Spa was the best, it was very clean and relaxing. We spent at least 2 or 3 hours a day there. I had 2 treatments Top to Toe, they were great one on the 2nd. day and one the next to last day. The staff there are really great all of them. The girl that takes care of the thermal area was so sweet and had everything just right all of the time.
I put our names on the list for the officers table and low and behold we got an invite. It was a very nice dinner with 2 officers the chief engineer and the head of HR. They were very nice and we all had a wonderful time.
In closing I just want to say that the Gem is a really nice ship with a great crew and we would go on her again.
Only one bad thing, getting off ship took a long time. And the people at port were slow with helping with suit cases. Our porter was very good.

San JuanWe only got a few hours in this port from 3pm to 9pm. So we got off the ship and just wandered around town. I love to take pictures so this was a fun place to do that. We felt safe the whole time we were walking around.View All 3,097 San Juan Cruise Port Reviews

St. MaartenWe did an island tour with Bannards as we heard good things about them. It started out rainy but cleared as we went on. Our tour guide was really nice and we were suppose to only be 9 to 1 and ended up 9 to 3 he gave us lots of time to see everything and we had a great time. I loved Moho Beach and watching the planes come in we got to see 3. One large and 2 smaller. Got some great pics! I would recommend this tour.View All 4,135 St. Maarten Cruise Port Reviews

St. ThomasWe took a taxi from the port to Sapphire Beach. The resort is old but the beach is beautiful. One down fall was the wind and waves so I did not get in much water time. I would do it again if the weather was right.View All 4,106 St. Thomas Cruise Port Reviews
