Glory Western March 2013

Sail Date: March 2013
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami
Cruise for DH and I 20th anniversary and this time we left the children at home. We flew into Miami the day before to see the city and try some Cuban food. DH started the day with a head cold. Since we had a before dawn flight, our first stop was at Walmart to get him some medicine and wine/soda to carry on. Our only grip about Wal-Mart was that the people they have working behind the pharmacy counter could barely speak English and it took several of them to get the cold medicine my DH wanted.

We purchased Faster to the Fun, we arrive at the port early. There was basically no wait in either the F2F line or the regular line. People were all walking on. We made sure we told ever we had F2F, and the lady directing people did not even know what it was as she originally placed us in the regular line. I ask again and then we were moved to the correct line. Our cabin was ready and it was nice to quickly unpack before we headed up for lunch.

We had anytime dinning at More typically ate before 7pm. There typically was not much of wait except the first night. The first night there was a line when we left the dinning room. The rest of the week we did not see any lines. We also asked each night to share a table as we like to eat with others. One night we even ate with people from our hometown. We moved away from our hometown 5 years ago. We did also enjoy a Guys Burgers and the Burritos.

We enjoyed the comedy shows. They were only offered the first 2 nights and the last 2 nights. We were hoping to go to them every night. We did not go to any other shows. We did spend most of our evening time in the casino if not at the comedy shows.

The service on the ship was great. Crew members always said hello in the hallways. We enjoyed our exerience on the Glory and will sail again with Carnival. Less

Port and Shore Excursions

When we arrived we walked outside of the port to catch a taxi into town. We walked up and down the beach front to decide which business we would want to spend the day at. There are many vendor here and you will be asked by them all to look at their goods. We got tired of saying "No." We ended up at the beach at Big Papas BBQ. It is owned by an American and opened in December. He has joined his business with 100% Agave. He spend a relaxing day on the beach.

Bar Hop

Had a great time on the Cozumel Bar Hop. We got a taxi and went downtown to meet our excursion. We then loaded a bus (41 of us) to go to the eastern side of the island to 4 bars. There is no electricity on the the east side. It is all run by generators or solar power. We had a blast learning about the island on our trip from the leaders. The bar hop also included one drink from each of the bar plus a bar hop t-shirt. It is well worth doing again.

This is where we were able to use the F2F and get an early tender to port. We meet at guest services and were escorted down to the tenders. No one ever asked for our cards with the F2F sticker. At the port we walked to the library to get on the public transportation (van) to Hell. As each ride you take is $2.50 each way. Very inexpensive to get around in GC. Hell is not as much as it is hyped up to be. There are several small shops, the post office and the rocks that look like what Hell is suppose to be. We did not stay long then caught the next van back to the public beach. We relaxed on the beach for awhile then headed back to the pier area to do some shopping.

We decide we would stay at Mahogany Bay. It is beach at the Carnival port which Carnival and Roatan have built. By staying at the port area, we did not get to experience the culture of the island. We walked to the beach as it was not far. It was not worth the $15 to ride the chair lift as the beach is not that far. The chair lift is just another money maker for the cruise ships. The WIFI here is terrible and I could not get online. It is very American but beautiful.
