We sailed on the Carnival Conquest out of New Orleans. This was our 4th Carnival cruise. In reading about the ship, it had been refurbished in 2012; apparently the only areas refurbished were the dining room and the addition of the taco bar and Guy's burger bar. The layout of the ship was a bit confusing. To go aft on a few of the floors you had to go up then go aft then go back downstairs. Our room was a balcony, deck 9, size was sufficient for two people. Cabin steward was great! Our dining room staff was wonderful. Gary, the cruise director was great as well. Overall, we were disappointed in the lack of entertainment for the week. Movies by the pool, very old movies but most of all, the screen had been ripped and was duck taped right in the middle of your line of vision! Really Carnival, you can do a better job than that! We had cruised on Princess with movies by the pool; Princess provided blankets and snacks by the pool, loved this.
The best food on the ship was Guy's Burger Bar! Loved it, burgers were great. Breakfast buffet food was ok, bacon almost raw, most food barely warm. Omelette station was the way to go. Lunch buffet food was the same, barely warm. We stayed up one evening for the Mexican Fiesta..............chips & salsa, really? That was it, no fiesta there.
We did have a good week BUT this was our last Carnival cruise. Even though their prices are good, we will pay more to go on either Royal Caribbean or Princess.
Was sufficient for 2 people. Good bathroom, great view. Location was wonderful, down a side hallway and was very quiet.
