Norwegian Star Cruise Review by Ranthos
- Sail Date: January 2013
- Destination: Western Caribbean
- Cabin Type: Mid-Ship Oceanview Porthole Window
Our first Visit to New Orleans and yes we took Amtrak from Syracuse to New Orleans if you have the time to spare its a great way to go.
3 days in New Orleans and We need to go back to see the rest of the attractions
Onto the cruise:
Disembarkation we took a taxi to the port...we should have walked! the NO port authority needs some work on traffic control we told the taxi driver to just get us in front of the pier and we will hoof it from there. (if you get a hotel downtown like the Marriott just walk over there) boarding the ship was slower than I'm used to but what the hay we are on vacation and we can handle it
Our room was clean and functional the only issue was the TV remote needed new batteries and good as new, could been more comfortable (they were in the process of replacing the beds on this ship and ours was a older bed)
The meals in the Main Dining rooms were good not great, service was excellent.
We did eat in the La Bistro and it was by far my best meal on the trip and maybe my best meal ever.
the buffet is not my fave i prefer a sit down meal where i get served rather than waiting in line with some people who act like they might run out of food..lol
Belize: very poor country, but our best excursion ever Land Rover and Cave expedition you cant go wrong on that!(note: its activity Level 3 so you need to be in reasonable shape)
Honduras: we got a walking tour from one of the locals he was informative and i gained a appreciation of Roatan this time
Costa Maya: was a nice stop next time i will go on an excursion!
Cozumel: (3rd time our old bar is gone) shopping haven, If I come back here i will do the Mayan ruins next time.
Disembarkation. Was smooth due to the fact we flagged down a porter, PS they are worth the money is yo want to move thru customs fast and grab a taxi!
nice ship and nice time with our relatives
