Rhapsody review, 9/10/06-9/17/06&Key West, Cayman Island and Cozumel. I really like this itinerary, particularly getting into Key West at 3:00pm; it's like getting a sea day and a port day all in one.

Well this was our third cruise and a very relaxing week. Our first on the Radiance and second on Carnival Ecstasy and now the Rhapsody, we were able to make a few comparisons. I have also been on a couple of week long sailboat charters in the Caribbean and several deep sea fishing trips. So I know what I am saying when we had the smoothest seas for the entire week I can possibly imagine. The worse was the last night coming back to Galveston and that was 1-3 foot seas, the rest of the time it was glass, everyone, including the Captain, was talking about how unusual it was. Anyway, on to the review.

Pre-Boarding: On Saturday 09/09/06, we drove from Dallas to Galveston, about a 6 hour drive. We hit scattered showers in Houston and Galveston but all and all uneventful. We stayed at the Moody Gardens Resort with their cruise package. It includes your nights stay, breakfast in the morning (a real breakfast either in the restaurant or room service), transportation to and from the pier and covered parking for the week. A little pricey at $268 with tax, but a very, very nice hotel with lots of attractions on site. The cruise and car service were excellent. We met up with some of our fellow CC cruisers at Casey's Restaurant (owned by the Gaido folks) for a very nice seafood dinner then called it a night. The next morning, we had a good breakfast and went to the Moody Gardens Aquarium which was excellent; we seem to hit all the major exhibits right at feeding time. We finished up just in time to get on our shuttle at noon to the pier. It was very exciting to see the Rhapsody and the Carnival Conquest as we drove up to the pier, let the adventure begin!
