This was our first cruise so we were all excited. However, we were highly disappointed. We got to the pier around noon and were on the ship within half an hour. Waiters were walking around with the drink special but decided to pass and go get some lunch. Food and variety was good. We were able to get into our cabin at 1:30 and it was alot better than what we expected. There was a good and bad to it. We were right next to the atrium and embarkation/debarkation point which was good because everything was right there but bad because sometimes you had a lot of noise. Dinner's were good. We ate in the Main dining room and food was good but very small portions. Ask for two plates in advance because you will be surprised on lack of food on plate. Wasn't too crazy about sitting with other people. Kind of made it uncomfortable because you had nothing in common and nothing to talk about. We just kept to ourselves. Entertainment was boring. There was one club on board and they played the same music over and over again. Not too current music as well. The ports were ok. I don't get docking in Grand Caymen late and then having to be on board so early. Doesn't leave you much time to do anything. Calica is a dump. It's an rock crushing site. You have to take a cab to Playa del Carmen and if you aren't going to the beach, you are going to be harassed by the natives to come into their stores. Same stores down the rows, just differently arranged. By the third day, we were totally bored and didn't know what to do with ourselves. We expected them to show the UM/FSU game but didn't. Claimed they couldn't get it on satellite??? Doesn't make sense because Carnival is based out of Miami!! Alot of angry people there. TV in room didn't always get signal either. You had lots of channels with snow and local channels out of Denver, CO???? We won't be back on Carnival. I'm glad I didn't spend the money on a suite. We will be traveling with NCL or Princess next time. If you are looking for a cheap cruise with cheap expectations, then this is it. We are both 30 and spent about $400 on alcohol and pics for the 5 days. (PS-Pictures are a rip off. $20 a pop for an 8x10 and if you want smaller pics, you HAVE to buy the 8x10 first. I spent $50 on two poses) Never again
