Summit Cruise to Alaska May 5, 2006 We. too, were on this cruise and had a wonderful relaxing time. The service, pampering and food were very special. It was just a wonderful time for us as a couple of reconnecting and celebrating 45 years of marriage. The entertainment that we chose to attend was of very good quality. While it was disappointing to not be able to see the Hubbard Glacier up close, it did not ruin our trip. We intend to do an Alaska cruise in 2007 and hope to get in closer. We enjoyed our relaxing at sea days so much that it wasnt a biggy to us to not see some of the ports with their incessant tourist traps. The scenery was awesome everywhere we went and weather was exceptional. It could be understood that some folks were meeting family or friends in the ports that had to be cancelled. BUT, the huge upsurge of anger and ugly feelings were not even reasonable in trying to be considerate of the captain and crew. Nothing at all could pacify the crowd that spent nearly 12 days raising a ruckus and trying to make everything into a terrible calamity. We have much doubt that these folks would have chosen to get off the cruise in San Francisco. They enjoyed the same dining that we did and all the service that is exceptional. The cruise was not shortened at all. Once that atmosphere was spreading, the complaints were against the food, the upholstery in the dining room and many irrational observations that had little grounding. Some of the shore excursions we took were great and one a little disappointing. The White Pass Scenic Railway was a very worthwhile trip. We would do it all over again, even with some of the changes that unfortunately happened.
